Patrol

Two Police Chargers & Planes

The mission of the Alexander City Police Department Patrol Division is to provide first responder capability for calls for service and emergencies. The 45 sworn police officers and supervisors provide enforcement of state laws and city ordinances, arrest violators, investigate criminal activities, and work in partnership with the community to solve public safety concerns using the Community Policing concept.

Officers are deployed in small geographic areas called sectors. Patrol shifts work 12 hours in a 4 on 4 off schedule. Each patrol shift is commanded by a patrol Lieutenant and he is supported by a first line patrol Sergeant. The patrol shift works with the community and other City resources to eliminate or reduce situations that can cause or attract criminal activities.

All new police officers are hired into the Patrol Division, and after gaining experience are eligible to move to other special assignments in the Police Department.
