JOB TITLE:  Nutrition Center Manager

PAY:  Grade 15

HOURS: Day time hours

 

JOB DEFINITION

Under the general direction of the Parks and Rec Director, this position serves as Nutrition Center Coordinator, and coordinator for outreach programs for the aging.  Coordinates meal preparation for citizens at the Center, as well as for the homebound.  Complies with USDA, EARPDC, ADA, and Health Department regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the Center
  • Ensuring cleanliness and safety, processes meals for members at the Center
  • Coordinates transportation of meals to homebound participating seniors
  • Operates and maintains an attractive center with an inviting and caring environment
  • Collects and balances donations
  • Organizes programs for members to include recreational and health/educational activities
  • Ensures property is maintained and secure
  • Prepares reports, records, time sheets for EARPDC, Easter Seals, and other entities
  • Trains staff and volunteer workers
  • Attends required training and meetings
  • Develops newsletter, fliers, posters and displays to promote interest in nutrition center programs
  • Makes referrals for aging services and other services, as appropriate
  • Maintains inventory of supplies
  • Represents the City in meetings with business and professional organizations, City Council, community groups, and the public
  • Performs other duties as required

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Effective customer service skills
  • Knowledge of needs and problems of those persons over age 60
  • Ability or organize and plan work
  • Knowledge and ability to comprehend guidelines, rules and regulations of nutritional program
  • Knowledge of Alexander City and surrounding areas
  • Demonstrate respect for individuals and groups with varied cultural, racial, ethnic, religious backgrounds
  • Ability to speak to groups of varied socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain records in a timely manner
  • Possess basic budgeting principles
  • Ability to communicate and interact with members and maintain a positive atmosphere
  • Ability to train and oversee staff and volunteers
  • Must be able to obtain ServSafe and CPR certifications

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be a graduate of an accredited high school or hold a certificate of high school equivalency.
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Prior experience with seniors is a plus
  • Possess excellent Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Must possess good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Possess a valid Alabama driver's license and a driving record suitable for insurability.
  • Willing to work non-standard hours and overtime as required.
  • Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position including lifting 20-25 pounds periodically.
