Job Title:  Maintenance Worker

Department:  Cooper Rec

Salary:  Grade 10

Hours:  Daytime hours

Summary:

This position entails general labor in maintenance and upkeep of recreational facilities, buildings, grounds, and a pool as needed.  Works under the general supervision of the Cooper Rec Director.

Primary Responsibility:

• Vacuum, sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floor; clean, dust and polish furniture; clean and wash windows, woodwork, toilets, washrooms and fixtures as necessary to maintain proper physical appearance and cleanliness.
• Create a preventive maintain program to keep facility clean and orderly; make sure all offices and the conference room and kitchen are kept clean and presentable.
• Replace lavatory supplies, dispose of waste paper; maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and empty trash.
• Move furniture as needed.
• Plant fertilize, prune, spray and care for flowers and shrubs.  Plant seasonal budding plants.
• Police the grounds for unwanted paper debris and properly dispose of it.
• Change light bulbs and filters
• Perform other job-related duties as required. 

Job Requirements:

• Must have graduated from accredited high school or GED
• Training and experience in cleaning and janitorial work is preferred
• Knowledge of horticultural practices desired. 
• Must have knowledge of cleaning methods, material and equipment   
• Must be able to work with cleaning and pesticide chemicals
• Ability to repair minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment 
• Able to follow simple oral and written instructions. 
• Willing to work non-standard hours and overtime as required
• Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position (walking, climbing, stooping, and bending).
