Job: Children’s Coordinator
Department: Cooper Recreation
Hours: Part-Time (4:00pm – 9:00pm)
Rate: Grade 8

Summary:
Children’s Coordinator is primary responsible of assisting the Cooper Recreation Center Director in
planning, developing, promotion and continuance of a quality children’s athletic program for the City.
Duties include the coordination of fields, facilities and personnel to best support planned activities.
Expected to work independently during very busy or other crisis situations. Works under the general
supervision of the Cooper Recreation Center Supervisor.

Primary Responsibility:
 Assist the Cooper Center Director in planning, developing, promotion and continuance of quality Children’s athletic programs for the City
 Provide for the coordination of fields, facilities and personnel to best support planned activities
 Resolve issues between participates at sporting events
 Attend all city sponsored sporting events at Cooper Recreational Center
 Collect and be responsible for fees and registrations
 Enforce safety and other regulations as they apply to City-sponsored sporting activities
 Perform administrative functions as needed
 Ensure all sport related equipment is maintained and stored properly
 Hold regular meetings and training sessions to ensure staff is knowledgeable of current rules
and regulations
 Perform other job related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
Must have graduated from an accredited high school or have a GED. Hold or have the ability to
obtain certifications and licenses. Have two years of responsible management and supervisory
experience interacting with the public in the development, maintenance and operation of parks and
recreational programs Possess a valid Alabama driver’s license and a driving record suitable for
insurability. Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to City-sponsored sporting events. Good
computer skills in excel and word. Willing to work non-standard hours and overtime as required.
Willing to travel overnight to attend continuing education courses and workshops. Be physically able
to perform the essential functions of the position. Physical demands include but not limited to
standing, walking, bending, pushing and sitting.
