2024 Comprehensive Plan Project
The City of Alexander City is embarking on a project that will set a vision for our community for years to come. The City Council and Mayor Baird are working with Place Associates to build a Comprehensive Plan, update the Zoning Ordinance, Zoning Map, and Subdivision Regulations. The comprehensive plan is a guiding document for growth and development based on the community's stated goals and values. The zoning ordinance, zoning map and the subdivision regulations are in accordance with the comprehensive plan in supporting the specifics in developing land.
During the project the City will explore opportunities for improving the quality-of-life for our citizens. The project is expected to take approximately 14 -months.
During this time, there will be community meetings for citizens to voice their opinions on what they would like to have in Alexander City. It is also a time to educate everyone on how our City operates.
Updates will be given to the City Council and Mayor during the monthly work sessions and council meetings.

The first Community Meeting for the 2024 Comprehensive Plan was a success. Multiple citizens, municipal board members, leaders and City officials attended. There was a good discussion about our community's assets, issues, and opportunities.
