Lakewinds Golf Course was purchased in 1982 by the city of Alexander City. The course is located 5 miles east of downtown Alexander City just south of US 280 on County Road 40. Lakewinds is tucked away in a small valley within sight of Lake Martin on the Tallapoosa River. Many positive changes have taken place during the last 25 years. Some include fairway and green rehabilitation, computerized irrigation, and paved cart paths. Our old style course has rounded greens that require accurate short iron approach shots. The par 70 layout has small greens that are in proportion to the course length of just over 5500 yards. Three water hazards protect many of our fairways requiring accurate tee shots. A variety of animal and plant life gives you a feeling of being as one with nature.
Future plans for our course include a modernization of our pro shop that will include a larger variety of food and snacks as well as an increase golf equipment inventory. Plans to renovate our tee boxes and improve the quality of our turf are always ongoing with our maintenance staff. Five golf tournaments and weekly golf matches are planned each year allowing you to always find a competitive match. We have a large group of seniors who have weekly matches every Tuesday and Thursday. We have a growing Junior golf program under way with unlimited play and training in the summer. Tee times and walk-ups are available 7 days a week, 7 a.m. until dark. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome! Book a tee time by calling us, or booking online.
