Adelia M. Russell

Adelia Willis McConnell Russell was born on May 26, 1911, in Kentucky to HC McConnell and Emeline McConnell. Soon after her arrival in this world, the family moved from Kentucky to Talladega, AL and settled in the area.

Adelia met and married Robert A. Russell and they had one son, Ben Russell, born on January 18, 1938.

Adelia was very active in local activities, the Presbyterian Church and was chosen Woman of the Year in her time. An avid golfer and horticulturist, Mrs. Russell was also known as a very talented painter.

Her passion and commitment to the community was certainly one of many contributing factors in the naming of the Adelia M Russell Library.
