Pay Rate:          Grade 11   

Hours:               Day Hours, some weekends

Golf Pro Shop Employee assist in marketing the golf course to retain members, grow membership, organize tournaments and manage the retail environment in the Pro Shop with the main emphasis being on golf equipment and attire.  Works under the general supervisor of the Golf Pro Shop Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the marketing of the golf course and pro shop
  • Provide exceptional customer service, sales of memberships and pro shop items
  • Assist in organizing and working all City sponsored tournaments
  • Market the golf course with special events through Facebook, twitter, email, and website
  • Increase membership and member retention
  • Establish relationships with businesses, schools, churches and other organizations to solicit new business and members
  • Assist in speaking at organizations, clubs, churches, businesses and schools to promote the golf course
  • Assist in researching, establishing needs, and recommending new ideas, event, and/or equipment purchases
  • Perform as a sales person and cashier
  • Perform basic retail functions of greeting the public making sales transactions
  • Assist in perform basic merchandising functions such as selecting and ordering goods, determining sales price, and merchandise presentation
  • Perform daily  cash register close outs
  • Responsible for daily receipts in absence of the Golf Pro Shop Manager
  • Assist the Superintendent and Golf Pro Shop Manager in the general operation of the golf course as needed
  • Perform other job related tasks as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited high school or GED. 
  • Associate degree from an accredited college with an emphasis in retail business environment preferred. 
  • Two years of experience in a retail business environment with associated golf experience desired.   
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record suitable for insurability.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. 
  • Knowledge of the game of golf. 
  • Good oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to meet the public in congenial and professional manner. 
  • Willing to work non-standard hours, overtime and most weekends. 
  • Willing to travel overnight to attend continuing education courses and workshops. 
  • Physical demands include but not limited to standing, walking, bending pushing and sitting.
