Job:                          Golf Course Maintenance Worker

Department:        Golf Course

Hours:                    Day Hours   (Some overtime & weekend work required)

Rate:                       Grade 10 

 

Summary:

Semi-skilled position entails general labor in maintenance and upkeep of the golf course, irrigation system, golf course facilities, buildings and grounds as needed.  Works under general supervision and is inspected in progress and upon completion when possible to assure compliance with established policies and procedures.  Works under the general supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain golf course, irrigation system, buildings, grounds and parking lot
  • Receive orally and written assignments which may be accompanied by rough sketches or drawings
  • Perform routine labor as required
  • Operate grounds and facilities maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, backhoe, tractors, trenchers, dump trucks and other related equipment
  • Perform golf course set-up (choose and cut golf holes, set tee markers correctly)
  • Perform other job related duties as required

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited high school or have a GED. 
  • Must have a driver’s license and good driving record to be insurable. 
  • Must have experience in grounds and facilities maintenance, or any combination of training and experience in grounds and facilities maintenance, and to include custodial work.
  • Ability to repair irrigation lines and equipment preferred.
  • Must have experience in operating; mowers, tractors, back-hoe, trenchers dump truck and other related equipment.    
  • Good writing and oral communication skills plus the ability to understand manuals, directives, instructions and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules. 
  • Knowledge in maintaining plants, sod and shrubbery. 
  • Willing to work non-standard hours, overtime and weekends as required. 
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position (walking, climbing, stooping, and bending,) as well as working outside in both cold and hot weather conditions.
