Job:                     Equipment Operator Foreman

Department:    Environmental Services

Pay Rate:            Grade 12

Hours:                 Day Hours      (occasional overtime)

           

Summary:

This position directs work to assigned personnel in environmental services, repair and upkeep. Works under the general supervision of the Environmental Services Superintendent and Director of Public Works.

 

Primary Responsibility:

  • Supervise assigned personnel to include job assignment, safety supervision, inspection of work performed and vehicle/equipment use and maintenance
  • Operate one or more pieces of department related equipment (backhoe, dozer, excavator, brush truck) for maintenance activities
  • Train and instruct personnel with regard to policies, procedures, safety and equipment
  • Utilize Cityworks software for receiving and dispersing service requests and work orders
  • Read and interpret project plans
  • Perform work under established procedures with frequent inspections during progress and final inspection of work completed
  • Develop and implement new jobs or projects on an occasional basis
  • Perform routine labor as required, drive dump truck, brush truck, loader and bulldozer
  • Perform all other task/duties as assigned by management          

 

Job Requirements:

Be a graduate from an accredited high school or GED.  Must be willing to work overtime and weekends in emergencies.  Must have a valid drivers’ license.  Must obtain CDL within 6 months of start date.  Driving record must be suitable for insurability.  Must be self-motivated and able to troubleshoot issues without supervision. Strong communication skills necessary in order to interact with other city employees, departments, and citizens. Must be able to operate tractor with attachments, loader, dozer and light to medium duty trucks.  Must be able to blue top with a motor grader and final dress with dozer. Must have basic computer skills and be willing to learn new technology as needed. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position (walking, standing, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling and lift a minimum of 50 pounds).  Performing manual tasks for extended periods of time and in unfavorable weather conditions (temperatures of over 90 degrees and below 32 degrees).
