The City of Alexander City is proposing to formally amend their FY21 CDBG Project (LR-CM-PF-21-011) which was approved to construct improvements to the city’s water system located on Forrest Street, Parks Avenue, Houston Street, Semmes Street, Green Street and North Central Avenue.  A public hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Alexander City Hall to discuss amending the above-referenced project.  The purpose of the amendment is to modify the scope of this project to include an alley between Green Street, and Broad Street. The water mains on Forrest Street, Houston Street, Semmes Street, and Green Street will be replaced and connected to the existing 12” water main on Monroe Street. The water main in the alley between Clay Street and Green Street will connect to the existing pipe networks on Clay Street and Green Street.  A short section of water system improvements along North Central Street and Park Avenue will be deleted from the project.    The expanded scope of this project will improve water services throughout this area and will now be funded with $500,000 in ARC Funds secured by the city to expand the scope of this project.   The revised funding for this project will consist of $500,000 in CDBG Funds, $500,000 in ARC funds, and $338,244.84 in local matching funds.
