Job:                           Water Treatment - Plant Operator IV

 

Department:          Adams Water Treatment

 

Pay:                           Grade 17     

 

Hours:                      12 Hour Night Shift

 

Summary:

The Water Treatment Plant Operator IV is responsible for the proper operations of the Water Treatment plant.  This includes maintenance of building, grounds and all related equipment.  The Operator is required to make tests and observations required for the proper operation of the filtration plant and to satisfy the appropriate reporting agency regulations.  Works under the supervision of the Water Treatment Department Superintendent. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform precise laboratory tests and record the results
Check and maintain all equipment
Perform janitorial duties
Paint buildings and equipment
Calibrate chemical feed equipment and laboratory equipment
Answer emergency calls
Operate mowers and power equipment
Perform other job related duties as required

 

Job Requirements:

Must be a graduate of an accredited high school or have GED.  Must possess a Plant Operator IV Water Treatment certification.  Must have a valid Alabama’s driver’s license and a driving record suitable for insurability.  Ability to perform basic math.  Ability to express thoughts clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.  Good communication skills.  Ability to follow instructions in the areas of maintenance, safety and laboratory procedures.  Ability to attend various training schools to obtain certification.  Willing to travel overnight to attend continuing education courses and workshops.  Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position (walking, climbing, stooping, and bending).  Willing to work non-standard hours as required.
